The ride continues
It seems like everyday has been different with our precious daughters. Today seemed to go very well for Haley. The doctor said she was the shining star of the three of them today, then this evening as we were visiting she started to do a little bit worse. Not that she is doing horrible, just not as good as she was during the day. Rachel was doing OK today, but like Haley she seems not as great this evening. We still worry about little Ashlyn, she is so bloated due to edema from all the medications (antibiotics) and her pneumonia/infection. Her kidney's are taking a beating with all the strong antibiotics she is getting. She has not been urinating as much as the doctors would like. When we were there this evening she did have a good wet diaper. We just talked to the nurse over the phone and Ashlyn had another wet diaper. We are hoping she will continue to urinate more which will help get the extra fluid out. I feel confident that Haley, Rachel and Ashlyn will continue to move forward, they will over come the obstacles that are in their path and will become stronger and stronger. We love and cherish these beautiful little angels, for they are truly our Angels. Thomas and I can't help but to feel the Spirit strongly each time we are in their presence. It's the highlight of our day when we are with them. We will do anything for our beautiful little girls. We feel so blessed to have them in our life. I know that there is a God who cares about our little family, He has and continues to watch over us. We owe everything to Him, for all that He does for us. We will pull through these difficult times and become stronger people because of all that has happened to us.

Your sweet sprits continue to amaze me! I can't wait for the day when I read about how you're taking your beautiful girls home with you!! One day all of this will be a distant memory and your girls will be safe and sound, home with you.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in our prayers,
Christina McKinney
Continuing to pray for you all.
ReplyDeleteAmanda and Thomas, as usual your faith inspires me. The princesses will continue to move forward, and the ups and downs will be less intense. Yes, they continue to exist; however, the "waves" are less proeminent. The girls doubled their weight and are about 28 weeks. Reaching 28 weeks is a milestone in their development. With all the prayers and His protection, I am very optimistic. Hang in there! Another day down!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Claudia
Hang in there. One step foward, two steps backwards now but in the end will equal out to these babies coming home. I am sure you already do this, but ask, ask, ask a lot of questions. That is what got me through the ups and downs of premautre birth and my baby in the NICU. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteEvery moment is a bonus! a few more days, or even weeks will make a world of difference. i hope you are keeping a great journal to pass to the wee ones...What a ride! One that we will always remember and they will need to know its ups and downs, and the love they generate!
ReplyDeleteLove and Prayers to all of you.
Erma
At one point Johnathan weighed over 4lbs (should have only weighed 2 lbs) due to all the meds and once he fought thru he eventually weighed "normal" again. It is scary seeing them so puffed up, I remember when time when they poked him to give him vitamins he just oozed out, he was so swollen.
ReplyDeleteOur prayers continue for your little girls.
Jamie
Prayers to your little girls. May God give them strength.
ReplyDeletei just read a fabulous poem - wish i had the whole thing for you, but the last two lines read Mountains are glorious, but its in the valleys i grow...love, Erma
ReplyDeleteDear Thomas, Amanda and Sweet Angels,
ReplyDeleteOur prayers continue from Salt Lake and we continue to be inspired by your faith and love. You are so strong as you walk this road and I know our loving Savior and Heavenly Father will continue to wrap you in their peace and love. Keep hanging in there! Susan and Steve

ReplyDeleteplease ignore the negative comments. We all know how much you love your children. I have been following your blog since you were first admitted in the hospital and I check it every morning and hope you will continue with the updates. God bless you both and your precious children
ReplyDeleteI have just begun following your blog and I, like Shel believe in what you two are doing with your sweet girls. It is not easy for any of you but I admire your faith and please don't waste a moment of worry or regret because of the negative comments. There will always be some who are this way. You are in my prayers, thoughts and will put your names on the prayer rolls of our Mesa Temple Tuesday. May the Lord's choicest blessings be with you and Thomas and your new little family.
ReplyDeleteThomas and Amanda, PLEASE don't let people like "dedeo2" and "Kathy" make your life miserable or disrespect religious beliefs. My grandmother used to say that "nobody throws rocks on a tree that doesn’t have fruits." THIS IS SO TRUE! All the people who care about you are here for your family. Caring people will continue to love, pray, and support you.
ReplyDelete"...Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing..." Luke 23:34
YOU keep up YOUR good work and don't let the naysayers get you down. there is nearly always someone some where who thinks they know better than anyone else. these meanspirited folks should just go kick a telephone pole or tire and i hope it hurts their foot! i know you are bigger people than they are and will/have already forgiven them... love you, Erma
ReplyDeleteI have been down the same road. My son was born in Nov. at 24 weeks. He had horrible edema after the reconnecting of his instestines surgery. It took about a month for him to get back to normal. Are they giving Ashlyn Lasix? Nicholas had stopped urinating for so long they had to bring in the drugs of last resort and he was on Lasix for probably a month. She will get through this and pee is a great thing right now so it is wonderful she is having wet diapers. Don't let other people's comments upset you. They probably aren't NICU parents and have no idea what it is like. Sure they can say what they think they would do in your shoes but until you are a NICU parent, you have no idea what you would do or what it is like.
ReplyDeleteI have followed your story from the beginning and never posted a comment until now. I just had to say...please, please, please do not let those unkind comments hurt you. I cannot understand why others would want to cause you further heartache, especially at such a trying time in your lives. Even if they disagree with your decisions, their commments were out of line and inappropriate. Remember that God knows your heart and nothing else matters!
ReplyDeleteI pray for you and your little girls! I can tell how much you love them. I have six beautiful children of my own, including one that spent time in the NICU. Do not feel that you must be at their side every second of every day in order to be a good parent. You must take care of yourselves as well!
What is going on? Why hasn't there been a post all weekend? Has something happened? Hopefully Amanda and Thomas are just too busy or just to exhausted to post- which is so understandable. Miss the updates.
ReplyDeleteThere have been no posts because unless there are 1005 supportive of amanda & thomas they are not posted. my post was in no way rude or condescending. i have been thru a similar situation. as i said before, for people that call themselves christians, why delete my posts? i pray for those babies every day. i want them to be healthy & survive. be careful what you delete, because as i said before, my only interest is the welfare of these babies. i bet this post doesn't make it either.
