Little Miracles!
Today we had a great visit with the girls. Our little Ashlyn continues to fight for her life. It is amazing how strong she is despite everything she has and continues to go through. She is swollen due to all the fluids that she is getting. Some days she has good urine output and other days she does not, though it seems to be getting a little better each day. Thomas and I were able to "hold" her today. It was a modified hold where we put our hands into the isolete and lifted her up off her bed. We were able to gently rock her. She tolerated it well. It was nice to be able to touch and hold her like that. We got to change her diaper too. Rachel is getting better though she still has some fluid on her as well. She is not as edematus as Ahlyn. Haley is doing good. Yesterday she had to have a PICC line placed surgically. She handled it well. Today I got to change her diaper. She was being a wingle worm while I was trying to change her. It was so awesome! Thomas and I got teary eyed as we enjoyed the moment with her. Our little girls are so beautiful and we are so thankful for them. God continues to watch over our little family, we truly feel His love and His kindness in these difficult times of our lives. It never ceases to amaze me, that there is a loving Father In Heaven who does hear our every prayer, who does helps us through the most challenging times of life.

Prayers...
I have been following your updates faithfully. I was so hurting for you folks when I read of the loss of your three little ones. I am praying every night for these 3 Precious Little Girls and that they will soon come home and grow up to love and cherish the 2 of you and you will be a Loving Happy Family.

I bet it was so special to hold Ashlyn!! Even changing diapers when you don't always get the opportunity sounds pretty fun :) I pray they will continue to progress!!! I believe in miracles...
ReplyDeleteI remember how exciting it was to get to change a diaper for the first time in the NICU. You can do so little with the babies in the beginning that it's wonderful to feel like you're doing something to take care of them. But the bigger they get the more you can do and it is fantastic! Keep hanging in there.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! I'm so glad when there's good news about all three at once! Who would have thought a diaper change would be such a blessing! Thanks for the wonderful updates, tell those girls to keep it up!
ReplyDeletePraying for you always,

So happy for diapers & holding Ashlyn! :D I bet that was better than chocolate by a mile! ;) So happy to hear they are staying strong and you are getting to do things for them now. Being able to touch them will only strengthen you all. I have heard of so many miracles of progress that happen once loving parents get to start holding & touching them! So happy for you! Woo Hooooo!

I am so happy that your little girls are progressing slowly but surely on their roller coaster ride through the NICU. Before you know it, they will be home and running you ragged. It is wonderful that they are progressing. I am amazed at the strength, faith and love that you and Thomas have. Your little girls are miracles.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the girls had a good day. I have been following their story for a few weeks now after your blog was posted on a prayer request thread. I will continue to pray for you guys!
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping up with the updates. I'm very happy to learn that the precious little girls are slowly moving on. That's how life is in the NICU; baby steps, one day at a time. I can immagine how wonderful it was to hold Ashlyn and to change Haley's diaper. Babies look like they are very fragile but they are stronger than we think. I continue to pray and keep all of you in my heart.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. I'm so grateful for the girls' progress. Who knew that changing a diaper could be such a joy!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to hear good news!! I am so happy that you got to hold sweet Ashlyn and change those tiny diapers!! That has got to feel good! I was just thinking about you guys last night and how strong your testimonies are and how you are sharing the gospel with so many people through your blog. It may not have been intended, but you are really great examples of faith and enduring to the end. You may want to consider adding a button or link somewhere on your blog that links to lds.org so that people can learn more about the church after reading your testimony. there are some cute ones at http://leeloublogs.blogspot.com/2008/05/lds-link-buttons.html or thecutestblogontheblock.com. Just a suggestion.

It's such a job to read your updates at your girls keep on fighting and making each new day a miracle! GOD is so amazing in the 6 blessings he's given to you, and to see how he's working in the 3 gifts you have with Ashlynn, Haley, and Rachel is humbling.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless
I've been praying for your little girls and so glad to hear they are doing so good.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of your many faceless but faithful followers. Hang in there, the girls are going to get bigger and stronger every day. I was just telling a good friend about you last week and she told me that her 25 week twins had many of the same problems as your girls. Including a grade 4 hemorrage in her sons brain. He is now 9 years old, healthy, athletic, intelligent and funny. The only bad thing I can say about him is that he is afraid of cats :) Both of her children struggled in the NICU for over 3 months but they are now perfectly healthy, happy, well adjusted children. I just wanted you to hear some good instead of always scary. And as a mother who spent many weeks in the NICU with my premature twins I want to reassure you that they will NOT remember any of this, they will NOT have any future problems bonding with their parents, and they WILL still have 2 built in best friends even though they will have spent some time apart from each other. Those were some of my fears as a NICU parent and I was wrong on all of them. We'll continue to keep you in our prayers. God is great.
