Today our little girls have had a relatively good day. Haley is hanging strong still from her surgery nine days ago though the thing we would like her to do is POOP. She has not had a bowel movement since before her surgery. They say each baby is different, but it can take up to a week or even longer. Haley does have bowel sounds, just not great ones yet. She will get it going pretty soon, I know she will be fine. Haley is down on her ventilator settings again as well. She is moving in the right direction. The Doctors tell us to give her time and she will poop. Little Rachel is a spitfire, and loves to move around a lot. She has pulled her breathing tube out twice this past week. She really wants the tube out I guess. They had increased Rachel's feeds again today, and has tolerated it very well. Rachel also is on lower ventilator settings. She is strong. She's already lifting her head up when she lays on her tummy. Rachel and Haley are similar with regards to their lungs, and ventilator settings. We are so grateful for their progress. Everyday they progress the closer they are to going home.

ReplyDeleteVery soon, they will get to go to their "home-sweet-home" and enjoy the family life they (and you) deserve. Soon, Haley will have a lot of diaper changes. Don't worry about it, she is getting there. Rachel is ready to get rid of the breathing tube and move on to the next "breathing step." She is such a cutie!Congratulations on the progress of the princesses! All my love and prayers. Claudia

How wonderful to hear better news. You guys hang in there. My daughter was in the NICU for 40 days and we were so happy when she came home. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Also, I like the wallpaper background compared to the last one. It was hard to read, may be its b/c of my old age. Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteTake care and hope your babies come home very soon, HOME SWEET HOME.
Blessings,
Nicole from Rosemead, CA
What adorable pictures, but then how could you miss with such darling little munchkins!! So grateful for the good days to help lift you and your spirits. We continue to send prayers from SLC.
ReplyDeleteThe new background and the pictures were not here in the morning (or maybe I was still waking up and didn't notice). I love them! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Girls!!!! I bet soon enough you will wish there was no pooping going on!! Congrats on the great news.
ReplyDeleteIs Haley getting breastmilk? I talked with my pediatrician after my baby was born 5 weeks early and it took FOREVER for him to have a non-meocomium bowel movement. The NICU doctor said that because breast milk is SO PERFECT for babies, there is not a lot of waste at first and PARTICULARLY in a healing preemie. Isn't that just amazing!? It is a testament to how wonderfully we are created. Anyway, even at-home and perfectly healthy, my guy would have a full week to ten days between poopies! And that was normal (of course they were amazingly enormous poopies). I bet Haley is going to be a stinky girl (to all of our joy!) in no time at all. Please update ;-D
ReplyDeleteGreat news - love the rolls on their chin and knees (rolls are good) =) I can tell they are putting on weight. Thinking of your family always and love reading such great post!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Michele Wallace
It is great! She is looking a little chubby. (wish it was great when people said that about me).
ReplyDeleteJennifer Rogers....Isn't it odd that when there is good news shared about the girls that the naysayers are nowhere to be found?
ReplyDeleteJennifer us "naysayers" are still around...but our posts are being deleted. Sometimes the truth does not want to be heard. I am sure that all of us "naysayers" only wish the very best for these two babies. Like you, we love hearing the good news. I guess it is hard for us to refrain from voicing our opinions on the choices that are being made for them. No harm intended to anyone-especially these babies. I can say I hope they turn out healthy, without any delays or disabilties, lead a normal life and continue bring their parents lots of joy
I think that is what we all want.
