Challenging Day!

Today I received a call from one of the Neonatologists informing us that Ashlyn has a grade 4 hemorrhage on one side of her brain, and a grade 3 hemorrhage on the other side. Haley has a grade 4 hemorrhage on one side only. Rachel has a grade 1 on one side only. Braden will have his ultrasound tonight. So it has been a difficult day to swallow everything that has come to us. I am still confident that everything will work out for our family. I know that there is a loving God who has and always will take care of us, if we do what is right. I know that these beautiful children that the Lord has entrusted to us will be ok. We may have challenges(bumps in the road) but that is ok, we will do what ever is asked of us to do. I am grateful for all the Prayers and support we are getting from not only our local community but around the world. We will continue to move forward and rely on Him who does work miracles in our lives as we allow him to. As we visited with them tonight, each one received a blessing from Thomas and our bishop from our church. We always feel better when we actually are able to be with them each night. I would never be able to sleep if I couldn't see them and talk to them everyday. God be thanked for these beautiful little miracles that we feel so blessed to have.

  6. I just want to let you know(from one micro preemie multiple parent to another), that our family is praying and thinking of you all. I know how hard it is to lose a baby and still have to worry about the surviving one in the NICU...May God bless you and look over you, your husband and your beautiful babies...including your angels!!! Stay strong!
    Love always,

  7. One of our triplets that is in the NICU also had a grade 3/4 and at the 3 week mark it had gone down a ton. Hang in there! The PDA heart thing is your next obstacle, research now and you'll feel much better when they bring it up. www.manicvoyage.blogspot.com

  8. One more bump in the road that all of us will continue to pray for! Today they are 10 days old and this is already a blessing. Time is passing and they are showing us how strong they are. It was expected that some problems would arise suring this difficult journey; however, they are in good Hands. All my love and prayers are with you.

  9. Hello, I found your blog through one of the other multiples blog I read and I want to thank you for updating so nicely. I have twins that were also born very prematurely and my daughter had a grade 4 bleed on one side. I just want you to know that she is 5 now and doing wonderfully. Prayers do work and kids are incredibly resilient, I know from seeing Lori overcome so much first hand. We will be praying for you and your babies!

  12. I really appreciate the update on the babies' condition. I know it's hard to find time and emotional energy to share with the rest of us! Of course the brain bleeds are serious, but I know several preemies whose bleeds cleared up without lasting effects. Even so, if the bleeds do cause disabilities, I know you guys love these little ones tremendously and will be incredible parents to them, no matter what their needs are. Of course, I'll be praying that your little fighters overcome this obstacle, too!

  13. I just started following your blog. My neice was born at 26 weeks weighing 1 lb. 14 oz. She is now a healthy, happy 2 1/2 year old. The power of prayers truly work miracles. Your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there and always know God is with you always!

  14. I am SO relieved to read the comments and see that brain hemorrhaging does not necessarily mean brain damage. I was so sad after I talked to you yesterday. Please let me know if you think of anything that we can do to help you. Even Abbie (who is 2) remembers to ask blessings for "the Stansels and all the babies" in each of of her prayers. We'll continue to think of you and pray for you.

  17. Two of my triplets (also delivered by Kirshon at Women's) had brain bleeds. One had bilateral grade 2's and the other had a grade 3 and a grade 4. We were told some pretty scary things but my trio is currently 3 yrs old and we have had NO issues. (And I know of plenty of preemies that were given a grim prognosis but were determined to prove the doctors wrong!)

All three of mine had the PDA surgeries like yours, we had brain bleeds and my daughter got NEC...its a scary ride but I'm happy to report that we made it through and we have happy healthy toddlers today.

    Praying for you guys daily!!!

  18. Our 25 weeker has a grade 3 and 4 bleed. Sadly grade 3 and 4 do mean damage but what the effect will be is NOT determined yet. Meaning what happens as they bet bigger changes and a scan can't determine anything.

We have hydrocephlaus from our bleeds. Its a scary and sad thing but he walks and enjoys life everyday. We struggle with communication but I have him EVERY DAY of my life to love and hug and kiss and remember that God provides us with miracles. no matter how "complete'

  19. Dear sweet Stansels,
You are staying so strong! It is obvious the love you have for all of your little babies. The Lord has placed a tremendous task in your hands and you are definitely bearing it well! We are praying for you, your babies, and for your comfort in bearing the grief of losing your angels. I hope and pray your babies will heal from their hemorrhages. I know that God is capable of all things.
I do want to tell you one thing, though, that if He chooses a different plan for their lives, no matter what complications and/or disabilities they have to deal with, I promise that you will love them so much and they will bless your lives in ways you can't even comprehend. The Spirit will fill your home and the Lord will not only carry you through, but elevate and increase your home and testimonies. I know this because I am living it!
That being said, we are all praying for their healing! All is well when it is in God's hands. Thank you for your living testimony of faith, resilience, and trust in Heavenly Father!

  20. Hello. I just found your blog thru the King families and I want you to know that I'm praying for you, your family, and those babies. My trio were born at 26 weeks (g/g/b) in July 2007 and they all had brain bleeds. Annabel Grade IV/III, Madelyn Grade III bilateral, and Johnathan Grade II-III/I. The girls were initially predicted to have no quality of life and the doctors did not want us to continue to care but we knew that wasn't our decision to make. Today, at just over 2 Mady and Johnathan are walking like crazy and are catching up nicely to typical 2 year olds, even with hearing aids, orthotics, and glasses. Annabel did required a shunt and she's had one revision, she had mild hemiplegic left-side CP but they believe she will walk someday. She is currently sitting on her own, recently began army crawling, and is taking steps with assistance.

It will not be an easy road but by putting your sweet babies future in God's hands you will get thru and everything will be ok, whatever that means. If you read our blog you'll see that we are still facing potential scary things, even at 2 years old but I wouldn't trade it for the world, they are our precious miracles. Feel free to contact me with any questions, thru the trio we've experienced a lot.

    Hugs to you,
    Jamie

  21. I have commented a couple of days ago about my daughter. She had level two and four brain bleeds while in the NICU. She is a typical three year old now. A little behind on things but she is catching up very nicely. When they did a u/s on her head before we came home they told me if they didn't know where the brain bleeds were they would of never of noticed them on the last u/s. My little boy that passed had a level one brain bleed and ended up with spastic quadpelgic cereberal palsy. My other little guy that is with us had no brain bleeds and has cp in his legs and is not yet walking. I am not trying to scare you but only one person knows what the future holds for these babies. It is not us nor the doctors. It is far above us Our savior is the only one who knows. Even knows Preston has special needs I wouldn't trade him for anything. If your doctors are anything like ours were they will push you take them off the vent. I am so thankful we didn't listen to them with Madison. But with that being said she didn't have to have a shunt on anything placed. I will keep you all in my prayers and thoughts. I will pray for the babies and I will pray for the strength for you guys.
