Haley got her helmet
Today Haley got her helmet. So far she doesn't seem to mind it, but she is not at the point of wearing it 23 hours a day yet. We are weaning it on for the next couple of days. Haley looks so cute in her helmet though we have a little problem fitting her glasses on with the helmet. We need to figure it out since Rachel needs glasses too. She saw the eye doctor a couple of days ago and he said that she is near-sighted and needs glasses. It's common for preemies to need glasses. So the girls are going to really look alike with their pink helmets and glasses. What fun!

Awww, so cute!!!! I can't wait to see them in their matching accessories! You should take some pictures the first day they both have their new little set up and have them wear matching outfits. I know it's sick, but we are girls and we love these things and when they are 20, they will think it is adorable too! :)
ReplyDeleteHave your girls started to crawl at all yet?
ReplyDeleteNo the girls are not crawling yet. We are working on that.
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute!! How are Haley's eyes doing? Has there been any change in prognosis or treatment?
ReplyDeleteI have followed you blog since the beginning, and am so happy for you guys that these 2 are here to love and hold - they are amazing miracles
I've been reading your blog since the Chronicle published the first story about your family, and cannot tell you how much my family and I have been with you all through your ups and downs. We had a 27 week preemie in 2008 who spent nearly 6 months in the NICU at Woman's Hospital, so we understand some of the challenges you have faced, though clearly not all of them. I don't know if you are getting therapy for the girls through ECI, but if you are, you should ask your coordinator about the MDCP program and Rider 28. They ought to be eligible for Medicaid, and the bypass provision of Rider 28 will allow them to participate now, rather than sit on the MDCP waiting list for years. Medicaid can assist with the various medications and medical devices the girls will need, including the helmets. We wish you the best of luck.
ReplyDeleteThey look so cute with their matching helmets and I am sure they will look even cuter with their matching glasses.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet, special little girls they are and what a blessing they are to all of us who have watched them fight so hard. They are truly miracles!!
I love her chubby cheeks!

I have heard of babies wearing contact lenses, I know it sounds crazy but I read it on another blog written by a Mom of a 24 weeker. Might be worth looking into!
