Kayla is 2 1/2 years old

Kayla officially turned 2 1/2 years on June 9th.  I'm so late getting this post done, but none the less here is her 2 1/2 year old update and photos.

Her stats at 2 1/2 years old:
Weight: 24 lb 14 oz (9%ile)
Height: 32.75 inches (3%ile)
BMI: 16.32 (59%ile)

My baby girl is growing up so fast!  She is such a sweet, loving little girl!  She gives hugs and kisses freely and tells mommy and daddy she loves us frequently.  When she gives kisses, she insists on kissing both cheeks.  So precious!  Love this girl!

Kayla is talking so much and so well.  Its fun to listen to her talk and hear the funny stuff she says.  When she plays with her toy phone, she talks away as if there really is someone on the other line talking to her.  She has an imaginative mind.  Kayla can also count to 4 well.  She's learning so fast!

Kayla has officially graduated from her high chair.  Yes I kept her in it probably a little longer than needed. I love high chairs in that it is so much easier to contain and clean up the mess, but she no longer wants to sit in it.  She likes to be a big girl and sit at the table.  I'm proud of her.  She is doing so well eating good at the table.

I have yet to be successful at getting Kayla potty trained.  She is stubborn and doesn't want to always sit on the potty.  Slowly but surely I am getting her to sit on it more and more.  Once in a while she will make a deposit (#1 only).  According to her doctor she is  late at learning to use the potty so I am worried about this, but I'm sure she will get it with time.

*The next set of pictures were taken on Galveston beach (an hour away from Houston).  The location on the beach we went to do these pictures was the same location that The Little Couple renewed their vows.  The walkway that Kayla is standing on is the exact spot Bill and Jen walked on to get to the beach.  I really like that show by the way.

Back to Kayla.  She is a social little girl.  She loves people and doesn't have any problem going up to someone.  She especially likes other little kids.  She tries to befriend them right away.  She is so much like her daddy!

Kayla is very much a 2 1/2 year old.  She is moody, has crying fits, runs away when I need her to do something, etc...  I love most of what she does at this age, but I can't wait to get past this terrible two stage.  I have been told 3 years old is worse.

Kayla loves to watch TV.  I need to do a better job at limiting it, but one of her favorite cartoons is Sofia the First.  She can watch episode after episode.  I think we have seen a lot of them several times already.  She gets so excited to see the princesses on the cartoon.  She is a girly girl through and through!

I have continued the same bedtime routine with Kayla since I started it back before she turned one.  I enjoy that time with her reading books, singing soft songs and cuddling.  She always gives me a kiss on both cheeks to end the day.  Sweet girl!

We are so blessed to have this little girl as well as big sisters Rachel and Haley.  They are our world!

Can't believe Rachel and Haley will be turning 5 on August 4th!  We are having a party for them on August 2.  Stay tuned...

  1. Don't worry about the potty training! As a mommy to 8, all my children trained at different times. My pediatrician said that children aren't really ready until about the age of 3. My "baby" girl turned 4 in June and has only been reliable for about the last 4 weeks. So take a deep breath and just take it slowly. You have enough on your hands :)

  2. Love the close-up of Kayla looking down- beautiful. Don't worry about potty training- each child is different and she will get it! I don't think 2 1/2 is 'late."

  3. I have been following your girls for a while. They are so all so pretty and have come so far. My older 3 are 4,6,7 and they all potty trained at different ages. I wouldn't be worried she wasn't done yet. The more strong willed she is the longer they take. Just encourage her but be patent. At two it was on and off a lot. Your girls have come so far I love to see how they have progressed.

    Thanks, Melinda Price

  5. I agree there's no need to worry about the potty. In my experience the little rascals "get it" very early on. The problem is some of them just don't care .My two were polar opposites. The first was a dream to train and so proud of herself. The second would have happily spent the whole day in dirty pants. Didn't bother her one little bit.

  6. Your pediatrician is completely wrong when it comes to Kayla being "late" with potty training. Three is a really good age. Of course, my boys were very stubborn and wouldn't potty train until they wanted to. My oldest got #1 down when he was 3 but didn't do #2 in the potty until age 4. My almost 4 year old baby has finally decided to potty train. He's pretty much there and hasn't had many accidents. Don't worry. Every kid is potty trained by the time they are in kindergarten.
