Up Hill Battle

What a day it has been! It all started at 1:45 this morning and continues on. Our little Braden is struggling. He is having issues with his lungs. He has an infection that is causing inflammation in his lungs and is therefore making his lungs not work well. We are hoping and praying he fights and makes it through this. We know that God is in control here and we know he will do what is best for Braden and the 3 girls. This has been so hard on us emotionally and we are so exhausted from going up then down. We are happy that the babies are 2 weeks old today. I know that every day they are here is a miracle and a blessing. We know we will be facing up hill battles and the road will be very long, but we are holding on to our faith that our children will be OK.

  1. I have been following your blog, so sorry to hear your little one is having such a challenging day. We can't imagine the strength it must take to be there for your 4 little babies and your 2 little angels.

Our son was a micropreemie and we have had those middle of the night calls. At 3 weeks of age he came down with pneumonia and spent weeks on the vent.

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. Hang in there.

  2. Amanda and Thomas, keep holding on to your faith. I hope the two of you can find time to take a deep breath and take care of yourselves. The babies need you; however, you have to be in good health to provide what they need. My heart is broken to know that Braden went through some struggles. My love and prayers continue to be with you. I love all of you and can't wait to see these babies at home. Please let me know how I can help. May God continue to watch over you and the babies.

  6. Praying for a turn around for you sweet baby boy, and also that your gils will continue to grow to be healthy. The NICU roller coaster is a hard ride but just keep holding onto the iron rod, I am sure many blessings are in store for your family.

  8. Just want to come out of lurkdom. Have followed you since you started this blog. I did not have preemies like yours, my twins were born just 4 weeks early, so I really don't know much of what you are going through at all. But, I did have a daughter that lost her daughter just weeks before she should have been born and not seeing her eyes and hearing her voice was very strange and difficult so I could relate to your excitement seeing Rachel's eyes. Your family is in my thoughts often and praying for all the best for you.

  10. We too know the ups and downs of the NICU. We had a 25 week preemie almost three years ago. I know how hard it was to have just one baby in the NICU, I can't imagine how it must feel with multiples.
Right around 3 weeks our little boy developed and infection and those were some of the roughest days and nights, not knowing what the next phone call would bring. Thankfully, through the power of prayer, he was able to live.

He spent 5 1/2 months in the NICU and came home with an NG tube and oxygen. To see him today, you wouldn't know he was preemie. He does have some developmental delays which he recieves therapy for, but is quickly catching up.

Just know that there are lots of prayers being sent to Heavenly Father on your family's behalf. Some of those prayers are even coming from strangers you've never met, because we've been in your situation and know what you're going through.

Stay strong! Heavenly Father is watching over you!

  17. Dearest children - if you need a break from 'being strong' please just find a quiet corner and talk to our Lord. its is so hard to have to always 'be strong'. then maybe fix yourselves a cup of spearmint tea and think of all the beauty you can... hopefully that tiny little rest will get you over this boulder in the road. He knows Braden has a tough go right now and in His great wisdom, He will take care of it all.. HE is our Hope and Love, Erma

  18. My twins were born at 26 weeks. It is VERY up and down emotionally. One minute they are doing well, the next all the nurses and doctors are rushing to your child to help him. VERY SCARY. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Braden especially today....

  19. I will forever be amazed at your ability to handle this trying situation. You are a wonderful example to others that you can keep your faith even in the most difficult times. I'm sorry to hear that you're little one had a set back. Just know that your Heavenly Father is so very aware of each of your tiny blessings and that he is watching over them. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm also happy to hear that you have such a wonderful medical staff to help your through. It must be a relief to know that when you can't be with your babies that they are still in such wonderful care.

May you have the strength you need at this time.
