31 Weeks |
I saw my new doctor last week and nothing really new to report. I will go back to see the doctor next week. I had to switch doctors due to baby boy's spina bifida. I will be delivering at Memorial Hermann Hospital instead of Women's hospital due to needing to deliver him at a hospital with a good neurosurgeon. Women's hospital just didn't have a neurosurgeon to do the surgery he will need when he is born. We already met with baby boy's neurosurgeon and are happy with him. I miss my other doctor (Dr. Pinell) at Women's hospital, but I have to do what is best for baby boy.
We have already decided on a name for baby boy! His name will be Brandon Thomas Stansel. Thomas is a family name as my dad and my husband are named Thomas. As for the name Brandon well I just liked it.
Slowly but surely I am working on his nursery. He will get the same crib that Kayla had and his room will be Kayla's room. Kayla is moving to our guest bedroom which is bigger so it all works out. Brandon's nursery theme is sports as daddy loves sports! Its been fun shopping for a boy this time around.
So things are just moving along and we continue to pray for Brandon and his health. On the most part I'm optimistic, but there are times I get so discouraged and sad. We love this boy already and are excited to see him. Hoping to make it to 37 weeks as that will be the best for him to be ready for the surgeries he will have to endure.
praying for your baby boy
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you and baby Brandon.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see a pregnancy update, even despite the diagnosis, I know you and Thomas are probably beyond excited to meet this baby boy after all the trials. I have always admired your strength to keep going and remain strong through the trials. This little boy will be very blessed to have you as his mommy and Thomas as his daddy, you are incredable parents. Hang in there and soon enough you will have little guy in your arms and be on your way to being parents of 3 girls, a boy and 6 little angels (I think I might be missing 1 or 2...sorry). I can not wait to see pictures when he gets here :-D
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for all that you are going through. I wish I could reach through the screen and give you all hugs!! You are doing such a great job with the kids- I follow another blog by a couple that has just had their second infant with spina bifida. I don't know how to link it properly, but thought you might find it heartening hopeful and hopeful.

You are in my prayers. I have yet to visit your Jimmy Johns buy I will. I live in Houston's south end.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're going to deliver at the Memorial Hermann. That is the best place ever for neurosurgery (look at me!). It is the Mischer Neuroscience Institute and they are the best. People come from all over the country (and the world) to get treated there. Brandon will be in great hands. Who is his neurosurgeon?
ReplyDeleteHis neurosurgeon is Dr. Stephen Fletcher.
DeleteCongratulations, Amanda! I can't wait to see your new addition to your beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteYou are in my thoughts constantly Amanda, I really hope and pray all goes well for you and your baby boy - and by the way - I love the name Brandon x
