Rachel's getting the Cochlear Implant!

In one month Rachel will be getting the cochlear implant!!!  She is scheduled for surgery on August 29!!  It has been 5 long months since her ENT suggested the cochlear implant.  Rachel has gone through extensive evaluations and Tests.  The Center for Hearing and Speech finally recommended and agreed that Rachel should get a cochlear implant.  We are excited and hope all goes well!

Summer "Adventures" - Part 3

In continuation of the posts about our Summer "adventures" around Houston, here are pictures of our visit to a unique park in the Heights area - Donovan park.  We have never been here before.  This park is unique in that the playscape is made of wood.  The detail in the wood was different and unique - it was pretty neat.  The girls enjoyed their visit to this park.

After leaving the park on our way home, we came across a neat mural and I just had to get a picture of my girls in front of it.  I LOVE this!

Summer "Adventures"

At the beginning of the Summer, I sat down and researched photo shoot locations in Houston and surrounding areas.  I'm always looking for new and exciting places to take pictures.  I came up with at least 40 different places/ideas.  Most of the locations were at parks.  Some of the locations we have already been to and have taken pictures, but a lot of the locations I have never heard of or been to.  So I thought why not make my list a "Summer adventure" list for us and the girls.  The girls love to go to parks!  Here it is mid to late July and we have not gone to as many of the locations as I have wanted.  Usually we go on the weekends when the girls don't have therapy and its not as busy.  Below are some of the pictures I took at the first location we went to.  I will post more pictures of some of the other locations we have gone to soon.

Kayla is 19 months

My little Kayla is already 19 months old.  What's happening to my little girl?  She's growing up fast!!!  Love this little girl so much!

This month's photo shoot was done in our back yard.  I couldn't get any smiles out of her.  She wasn't feeling well when I took them.  Poor baby has a cold.

On July 9, Kayla weighed 21 pounds, 5 ounces.  She is such a petite little girl.  She can still wear some 12 month clothes!

Kayla is making a lot of progress with her language.  She is saying more words (too many to count) and is using more sign language.  She can sign 7 words (more, water, thank you, book, done, no and eat).  She loves to talk and talks a lot!  She gets that from her daddy.

Kayla is a good little helper.  She is usually good at doing things I ask her to do.  She will help pick up toys when I am doing that or she will throw something in the trash when I ask her.  She likes to help out!  I'm so thankful for her willingness.

Kayla is the perfect little sister to her big sisters.  She is so good for them and she loves them.  She gives her big sisters hugs and plays with them.  She is going to be a big help for them.

Kayla is a fun, playful, happy little girl.  I love her smile and laugh.

Kayla loves to eat.  She can be picky at times, but she really likes to eat her favorite foods.  Milk was one of her favorites, but lately she has decided she likes water more than milk.  She's good at signing and saying water.

I have to admit I love our nighttime routine together.  Kayla loves books and being read to.  We snuggle together as I read to her.  When I lay her down in her crib she blows me kisses and smiles.  I hope these moments last forever!

4th of July 2013

For the 4th of July this year we went to a good friend's house to swim and enjoy good food and company.  The girls enjoyed getting in the pool as usual.  We didn't see any fireworks since the girls went to bed at 8pm and that was late for them.  Overall it was a great day celebrating our freedom and America's birthday.

The four pictures below were taken at another good friends house before July 4th.
