Easter 2013

Happy Easter from the Stansel's!  At this time of year we remember the resurrection of our Savior.  We are so grateful for the atonement and resurrection.  The Savior suffered and sacrificed for us all.  The love he has for us is pure and I know he lives!  We are blessed and so very grateful for this truth and the gospel in our lives.

I love this time of year!  Everything is coming to life after a cold winter.  The flowers are in bloom.  The weather is getting warmer, at least here in Texas.  This I especially love.  I love Spring and all it brings.  In Texas, Spring means bluebonnets!  The Texas Bluebonnets are in bloom.  I took the girls Easter/Spring pictures in the bluebonnets.  We did two photo shoots at two different locations in the bluebonnets and I will post the other photo shoot in a couple of days after I edit them.  But this first set of pictures is with the girls wearing their Easter dresses.

Easter Egg Hunts

Two Saturdays in a row, we have taken the girls to a couple of Easter egg hunts.  The first one was at our neighborhood clubhouse on March 16.  There was food, music and lots of drawings for prizes, but we didn't win.  That's ok we don't usually win anything, but we did have fun!  The Easter Eggs that the girls hunted were all over the playground area and both Rachel and Kayla didn't care too much for the eggs at first.  They were more interested in getting on the swings to swing.  Funny girls!  I didn't take too many pictures of this Easter Egg hunt.

On Saturday March 23, we went to a beeping Easter egg hunt for the blind and visually impaired.  Haley was invited to this hunt.  We have never been to a beeping Easter egg hunt before.  The beeping eggs were big and all the eggs were beeping at the same time.  Haley liked the beeping eggs, but it was hard for her to pick them up since they were bigger than her hands.  She enjoyed it though!  Rachel and Kayla participated in the non-beeping egg hunt that they had for siblings.  The girls also got to get their picture taken with the Easter bunny.  This was the first picture with the Easter bunny I have gotten of them.  I'm surprised they didn't cry!

Another Park Visit

Here is another post about our visits to parks.  We visited this park in the Fall Creek neighborhood on March 4.  This is a beautiful park!  The grass is so green and lush!  The girls loved the big soccer field of the soft grass.

Park Visits: March

To continue my catching up on our park visits, here are the pictures of some of our park visits for March so far.

March 2: Adickes SculpturWorx Studio
This wasn't a park, but a really neat attraction we had heard of where you can look at these huge sculptures of the different presidents heads.

After seeing the sculptures we headed across the street to a park in the Heights neighborhood.  This park had an awesome view of the Houston downtown skyline. The girls enjoyed running around this open field.

Park Visits: February

This blog post is a catch up post from February.  For the past couple of months we have been enjoying the nice weather here in Houston, Texas by visiting some different parks on the weekends.  The girls love to be outside and the best cure for inside boredom is to take them outside to play.  So we have been making the rounds to lots of different parks around Houston.  Of course I took pictures of our fun at these parks.  I narrowed down the pictures to my favorites so I wouldn't post too many.  Believe me I could post so many more than this.  I take a lot of pictures!

We don't live too far from the Bush intercontinental Airport and it was on our way home from the Jesse Jones park.  There is a place close to the landing ramp where you can park and watch the planes come in.  I shot this neat picture of this plane as it was coming in to land.

Kayla is 15 months old

Kayla is 15 months old!  Time for another update along with her 15 month pictures.  For this month's pictures, I did a rodeo theme since the rodeo is going on here in Houston, Texas.

At her 15 month check up, Kayla weighed 19 lb, 14 oz (10% ile) and was 28.75 inches tall (9% ile).  Head circumference was the 3rd % ile.  Weight for length she is 50% ile.  So she continues to be our full of energy petite little girl.  She is healthy and we are so thankful for that!

Kayla has gotten more teeth, but I've lost count.  She is doing ok with eating.  Sometimes she is picky and other times she will eat what I give her.  She is willing to try new foods, but will let me know if she likes the food or not.  Kayla also always wants to eat what I'm eating.  She is interested in the spoon and we are slowly working on helping her learn to use a spoon.  She loves her sippy cup with her milk.  Really she likes any sippy cups.  At church she likes to take other kids sippy cups from them.

Kayla has a lot of personality for such a small little girl.  She wants to be the boss!  She can throw a big temper tantrum when she can't get what she wants.  She also screams when she can't get what she wants.  I really want to stop that behavior!  She is full of energy and gets into everything.  She is a typical curious child.  She likes other little kids and goes up to them.  She has made some little boys cry already!  She is just very friendly and other little kids don't always know how to take her.

I'm so thankful that Kayla has Rachel and Haley as her sisters.  Kayla looks up to them and just loves them so much.  She is playful with them.  She is so happy when they get home from preschool.

Thankful that Kayla usually goes to bed well at night and continues to sleep through the night.  She usually sleeps a good 12 hours at night.

Love the curls in her hair.
