New York Times!

The New York Times came to our home tonight to interview us. Like the other media interviews we have had they asked us many questions about out story. They did not have a date on when the article will be printed. It may be printed before or after the babies are born. We will let everyone know and post it on this blog when we find out.

Bring on the Fast Food

It seems like most everything I eat has been high fat and high calorie. I am not accustomed to eating such foods, but I know that it is critical that I do. The babies growth depends on it. Today my mom went and bought me a Whataburger cheeseburger and fries, and it was so good. It's funny as a Dietitian I tell people to stay away from this type of food, or at least keep it to a minimum, and here I am eating it, but with good reasons. I will get back to my normal diet once I deliver these children.

Another Week Down!!

Sunday's are always a great day for me to reflect on the previous week. It has been a great past week. I have been trying to do all that the Doctor asks of me, while I am down and out on bed rest. I am missing my friends at Chruch, that normally I get to see each week. I will be back soon enough. It seems like the weeks have flown by. I was a little more bored this past week than I had been the previous week, but I making it through day by day. I can't wait to see the Doctor this up coming week. I am excited to see the children on the Ultrasound. I think it is so amazing each time I see them on the Ultrasound. I still don't know how the Doctor keeps them all straight. I hope more than anything that the babies are growing and are healthy.

Glad to get out again

Tonight I got out of the house for a little break. It has been a week since I last got out of the house. Thomas drove me to get some ice cream and to see the sights near our home. Since I have been in the house all week, I have not been outside to feel the 100 degree heat. It sure was hot when I stepped into the garage this evening to get in the car. I'm glad I've been indoors out of that crazy heat, but I was also very glad to get out of the house. It's getting harder and harder to be stuck in the house all the time, but I know it's important to stay off my feet. No matter how hard it is to be on bed rest, I will continue to do whatever it takes to keep this pregnancy going as long as possible.

What will their names be?

I spent some time today looking through a book of baby names. Thomas and I have twelve names (first and middle) to pick out for these little ones. I thought we better get started now because twelve is a lot of names. I have heard some have a hard enough time with picking out names. I can only imagine how it is going to be with twelve. If there are any suggestions let us know.

17th WEEK!!

I am getting more excited each day with the babies movements getting stronger and stronger. It is amazing to feel them move. I have always wanted to know what it felt like. I am now into my 17th week of the pregnancy. I am some what shocked of how my body has handled the pregnancy to this point. I feel so blessed that I have made it thus far and have been able to control my blood sugars for the most part. I haven't had too much discomfort, but it has been harder to get comfortable in bed at night. I know challenging times are still ahead and I will experience more discomforts, but with the Lord's help I will pull through.

Tough Day

I have type 1 diabetes and have been a diabetic for 16 years. Today was a tough day in regard to my blood sugars. They were on the higher side almost all day. I wear an insulin pump to control my diabetes and so I have insulin available 24/7. I checked my blood sugars a lot today and kept giving insulin to bring my blood sugars down, but they just didn't want to come down. I realized that maybe my insulin had gone bad in my pump. I changed out the insulin and that is all that was needed. My blood sugars are now doing good again. I really try to make sure I keep them under excellent control. When they go crazy it makes me uncomfortable. I have been so blessed to have been able to control my blood sugars very well during this pregnancy so far. I'm surprised about that since I'm carrying 6 babies. Having type 1 diabetes during pregnancy is hard, but good control can be achieved.

One week down

I have made it through one week of best rest with several more to go. I am so excited to see these beautiful children when they come. I think about this a lot. I can't wait to see what they look like, who they look like, and how they will be. Each day I can feel them move more and more though it is still light flutters. It is such a miracle when you stop and think about it. I feel so blessed to have these tiny miracles growing in me.

Another Set of Multiples

What an awesome and exciting day today. Dan and Angela Stansel my brother in-law and sister in-law found out they are going to be adopting twins. We are so thrilled for their news, and hope and pray for the best in this process. We will do all we can to help them. We want them to know that we love them and are so excited for the additions to the family. I know they have been through a lot in the adoption process. We have been praying for them, and the Lord has blessed them. They deserve it! To follow their blog go to uniquelyordinaryangela.blogspot.com

Happy Father's Day

This father's day I was grateful to have my dad visit me while on bed rest. I love my dad very much and am grateful for the sacrafices he has made for me. My dad has always been there for me every step of the way. He is a wonderful dad and would do anything for me. I am so very blessed to have him.

I am eternally grateful for a father who has always been there for me through out the years. When ever I have needed council or advice, the one person (besides my mother) I turn to, was Dad. . I have many fond memories of my father. We use to always play catch together in the yard with a baseball. I cherish those moments that I had with him. He is a great example to me, and appreciate him more than he will ever know. Thanks for everything, I love you Dad!

Left The House!

I left the house today for the first time since being on bed rest. I probably should not of, but I did. My husband suggested we take a drive to Galveston, just to get me out of the house. So off we went to the thriving metropolis of Galveston Island. My parents were with us as well. I was so uncomfortable the whole way back. I guess my tush could not handle the hard chair.Thomas suggested to pull into a Walmart and buy a pillow for me to sit on. It helped a little, but not nearly enough. I learned one thing tonight, stay home it is so much more comfortable.

Thank Goodness for Mom

Mom has finally arrived. Today was my first full day with Mom at my side to help me. I am so grateful for her being here. I love and appreciate her more than she will ever know. She has been so patient with me, and has helped me so much. Thomas and I will do our best to not run her off, by over working her to death.

KPRC News Story

The media has come to our home once again. we were on the local NBC news affiliate here in Houston today at 4pm. Here is the link if you desire to watch it.

Feeling First Movements

This evening while sitting in my recliner and watching TV, I'm sure I felt one of the babies moving. It felt like little bubbles. I have been feeling slight flutters here and there, but this time I'm sure what I felt was one of the babies kicking me. What a joy it is to feel one of the babies move. Feeling these first movements make this experience so real. I look forward to feeling them move again.

At My Post

I have become acquainted with this nice comfortable bed. I never thought I would or could spend this much time in bed. I have enjoyed looking through the baby name book, since I do have quite a few names to come up with. Thomas and I are still trying to narrow it down to four girl names, and two boy names. What a challenging task, but exciting at the same time. I think it is hard enough to come up with one name, let alone six.

The Belly Growing Never Ends

My belly is now on a track to surpass my husbands. I never thought that could be possible. I am measuring in at 40 inches (Thomas's is 44 inches). That will be the day when I pass Thomas up.

Mom is Coming

I am already getting bored of bed rest and this is only day three. Wow I don't know how I will feel at the end of all this, if I am already bored now. I am excited to have my Mom here tomorrow for the remainder of my bed rest at home. It will be so much better when she is here. I am grateful to her for making the sacrifice to come from Austin and be with me, I love her very much.

Bed Rest Survival Basket

I was given a basket full of goodies to help me survive bed rest. What a surprise! I love it! The basket was filled with magazines, Hershey Kisses, card games, crossword puzzles, cookies and Everybody loves Raymond DVD's. Lunch and dinner were also given to me today. I really appreciate all the wonderful people in my church who bring me meals and goodies to help me while on bed rest. It has helped me get through each day.

Local News Paper

We are featured in the Local hometown news paper, the Humble Observer. If you would like to read it, here you go. http://www.hcnonline.com/articles/2009/06/15/humble_observer/news/25sextuplets.txt

First Day of Bed Rest

Today was my first official day on bed rest. I have to say it was strange to not have to get up and go to work. I will miss all my co-workers, but I know that bed rest is necessary to help keep this pregnancy going well. My first day of bed rest was not too bad. The day seemed to have gone by fast. A couple of women from my church came and visited with me. One of them did our laundry and the other brought over dinner. I am so grateful for their service and kindness. To pass time, I also watched TV, read and slept. I have a nice recliner that I spent the majority of my time in today. It's comfortable, but after a while my back side got sore from sitting so long. This is just something I will have to get used to for the next 3 1/2 to 4 months. I do have to give a big thanks to my wonderful husband for taking over all the house hold chores. He has been so helpful. He has really stepped up to the plate and doesn't complain. Well tomorrow is another day of bed rest. Hopefully it will go just as well.

Home Bound!

Today is Sunday! I was not able to attend my church meetings , because I have been instructed by my physician to take it easy at home this weekend. We are trying to follow the doctors orders to a T. I am not one who enjoys missing church, but I know that this is what it will take, to keep these four little girls and two little boys growing and doing well. I am so thankful for two good church members who came and visited me today while Thomas was off doing his Sunday responsibilities. They made me laugh, and it makes me feel so good, that there are so many women who are willing to help me, by being there for me.

Mothers of Multiples meeting

Tonight I was able to attend the Kingwood area mothers of multiples (KAMOM) meeting. I was able to talk to other women who have multiples. Although most who attended the meeting tonight have had twins, I learned things from them that will help me not only in pregnancy, but after. All the women were very friendly and helpful. I am so glad there is a network of women out there that I can turn to for help and advice. I will definitely benifit from all these women who know what I am going through for they all have been there.

One Bathroom will NOT be Enough!!!

We went to the Doctors today and found out each of the babies sex. It appears that we are having four beautiful little girls and two handsome boys. Well it looks like we will need a different house eventually, because one bathroom will certainly not cut it! The ultrasound showed growth in all the babies. The Doctor said that all look to be on target in terms of their growth. The doctor had no concerns. That was a relief! They all seem to be healthy and strong to this point. We feel so blessed that the good Lord has entrusted us with these six precious children.

What Will They Be?

We are so excited to find out the sex of the six children who will occupy these six infant seats/carriers. Tomorrow is the day we will find out. I don't think we will be able to sleep tonight, we are so pumped for this exciting day tomorrow. Stay tuned, we will let you know the great news.

The Media Continues

This evening we were interviewed by the Humble community newspapers called The Observer. We had a great opportunity to tell our story once again for our local community. The paper will be out in the coming week ahead. We will inform you when it hits the news stands in the Humble area, as well as when it comes out online.

740 KTRH Interview Link

I was searching the KTRH Newsradio website and came across the actual interview Thomas had this morning. Here you go!

A Big Thanks To All

We just wanted to thank all who have sent emails and messages to our family. We are so grateful for the kindness that has been extended to us. Thanks for the encouraging words, they have helped us feel confident and upbeat with this awesome experience that we are going through. We know that it is only the beginning of a long but happy road. We know that there will be challenging times ahead with trying to carry and raise six children. We also know that there is a God in Heaven who will see us through, because it is His will for us to continue on with this pregnancy. We know this is His will because of experiences we have had that are very sacred to us. Once again thank you to all who have so graciously stepped forward to offer us help and support. We may not know you all, but please except our heart felt gratitude for your kindness.

740 KTRH Newsradio Interview

We were interviewed this morning by 740 KTRH Newsradio. We spoke live on radio with J.P. Pritchard and John Labus. The interview was roughly 3 minutes. They asked pretty much the same questions as all the other media outlets have. My husband Thomas did all the talking. They never asked any questions to me, so I just let Thomas handle the interview. I felt that the interview went extremely well.

Just found the actual news broadcast from this evening Fox 26 News of our interview. Enjoy!

Foxs News Interview

Wow, tonight we had our first ever interview on a news network. Fox 26 came to our home this evening and interviewed us. We were a bit nervous, it isn't our favorite thing to do, but we made it through. We never anticipated such media attention, but it is here and so we will try as best as we can to make it a positive experience. Our most important concern is the health of our children, and my health.

We Hit the News

We just noticed our interview with the Houston Chronicle on their website.

Houston Chronicle interview

The Baby Shower

Saturday my church gave me a baby shower and they really came through with the gifts, love and support. The people in my church are so wonderful! They are very supportive and are so willing to help in any way they can. I had a really good time at the shower and enjoyed talking to everyone.

I wasn't sure what people would bring as gifts, with there being 6 babies and still realtively early in my pregnancy. We got such wonderful, basic, needful baby items. Onesies (lots!), towels, bath supplies, diapers and wipes, blankets, clothes, gift cards, burp cloths, bibs, and so on. But I think my favorite gift was one for me to use today--a body pillow! (Thanks everyone!)

I will miss seeing everyone on a regular basis when I go on bed rest, but luckily they will visit me. Thomas and I have been so blessed thus far in this pregnancy with the out pouring of love and support from friends, and family. A big thanks to all who have already done so much to help us.

Houston Chronicle Interview

Yesterday two very nice ladies from the Houston Chronicle came to our house and interviewed us for an article about this pregnancy. They found out about this pregnancy the week before and were happy to be the first to interview us. They shot a short video clip and took pictures of us. They asked us many questions about how we met, our marriage, our journey to become parents and of course many questions about this pregnancy. The interview was a lot less nerve wracking then I had expected. They made us feel comfortable and at ease. I was a little camera shy as I have never had a story about me put in a newspaper. Thomas and I felt the interview went really well. We look forward to seeing and reading our story in the paper. Our story/interview will also be on their website (www.chron.com). Keep an eye out for it!
